Village History

Palamadai's name is historically associated with Nilakanta Dikshitar, a great saint and minister of the Madurai Nayak Kingdom, who was gifted this village by the Nayak Kings in 1520 A.D. The name reflects the ancient sluices (madai) and channels that irrigated the fertile fields of the village.

Palamadai is located in the Tirunelveli Taluk of Tirunelveli District, Tamil Nadu, India. Situated along the scenic banks of the sacred Tamiraparani River, the village is blessed with lush greenery, abundant water resources, and rich agricultural lands, situated approximately 15 km from Tirunelveli city.
