Shri S.N.Sastri  born  on  June, 27th, 1922,  is a  former member of the Indian Revenue Service. He retired as Member, Central Board of  Direct Taxes,  Government of India in June, 1980. 
He is an ardent devotee of Mahakavi Sri Neelakanta Dikshitar and has been of great help to  the  Mahakavi  Neelakanta Dikshitar Foundation in many ways.  Jointly with the late Sri P.S.Krishnan, he translated into English, "ANADASAGARASTAVAM "of Mahakavi  Neelakanta  Dikshitar published by the  Foundation.  He was also of very valuable help in publishing  "CAHANDEE RAHASYAM" AND "SIVALEELARNAVAM" also published by the Foundation.  We are indeed very happy to host his works in our website ""

He  studied  Vedanta  in  Chennai  in  the  traditional  way  under  two  eminent  scholars,  Dr. Goda Venkateswara Sastrigal and Dr. R. Krishnamurthi Sastrigal, former principal of the Madras Sanskrit College.

He has authored the following books:--
1. Commentary in English on Narayaneeyam, a devotional work in Sanskrit by the devotee-poet Melpathur Narayana Bhattatiri who lived in Kerala in the 16th century A.D-- Published by Central Chinmaya Mission Trust, Mumbai- 72. Contains the slokas in Devanagari script,  word-by-word meaning, and detailed explanatory notes.  Available at all the centres of Chinmaya Mission all over the world. 

2. Commentary in English on Satasloki of Sri Adi Sankaracharya-- Published by the author.

3. Commentary in English on Hastamalakiyam of Hastamalaka, one of the four disciples of Sri Adi Sankara-- Published by the author.  

4. English translation of Siddhantabindu of Madhusudana Sarasvati, published by Adi Sankara Advaita Research Centre, Chennai.  Books 2,  3 and 4 can be had from Jayalakshmi Indological Book House, 6, Appar Swamy Koil Street, (opp. Sanskrit College), Mylapore, Chennai- 600 004. Tel: 24990539.

He edited the English translation of a monumental commentary in Malayalam on Narayaneeyam, published by The Bhaktaranjini  Trust, Bangalore-94.

He translated into English a work in Sanskrit, “Ishtasiddhivivaranam- A critical study” by Dr. R. Krishnamurthi Sastrigal. It has been published by Adi Sankara Advaita Research Centre, Chennai.

He has written articles on Vedantic topics which have been published in various journals.
